2UUL BH35 THE OPT JIG CAMERA & FACE ID REFURBISHMENT TECHNICAL GUIDE

================================================================================

1. OPTOMECHANICAL ALIGNMENT DYNAMICS & THERMAL DISSIPATION PRINCIPLES:

   The 2UUL BH35 is engineered to solve two major hardware failure modes encountered when servicing iPhone camera and TrueDepth systems:

   A. Optical Decentering & Collimation Shift:

      - iPhone rear cameras (13mm, 24mm, 77mm, 120mm) and Face ID Dot Projectors rely on sub-micron optical alignment:

        1. In Face ID Dot Projectors, a Vertical-Cavity Surface-Emitting Laser (VCSEL) array fires 30,000 infrared dots through a collimating lens and a Diffractive Optical Element (DOE) prism. If the DOE is re-bonded even 0.05 mm off-axis or with a 1-degree tilt, Face ID fails calibration ("Move iPhone a little lower / higher").

        2. In 48MP Fusion and 5x Tetraprism cameras, clamping the module with generic PCB vises crushes the external 0.15 mm sheet-metal shielding, permanently binding internal Voice Coil Motor (VCM) autofocus rings or jamming X/Y Sensor-Shift suspension flexures.

      - The BH35 features custom CNC-milled step pockets precisely matched to the outer datum edges of OEM Apple camera brackets, locking the housing with zero lateral deflection.

   B. Heat-Sinking & Magnet Demagnetization Defense:

      - Camera autofocus and OIS systems contain sintered Neodymium (NdFeB) permanent magnets with Curie temperatures around 120°C – 150°C.

      - Applying 330°C hot air to separate a damaged lens barrel while holding the camera in free air or thin tweezers rapidly overheats the internal VCM magnets, permanently weakening magnetic flux and causing the camera to vibrate or fail to focus.

      - The BH35's 6061 aluminum alloy jaws act as a thermal heatsink, sinking conductive thermal overflow away from internal VCM coils and magnets while localized heat is applied to the upper lens rim.

2. STEP-BY-STEP WORKFLOW: REAR CAMERA "BLUE LENS" OPTICAL BARREL REWORK:

   STEP 1: Fixture Configuration & Cavity Selection

   - Clean the BH35 clamping surfaces using 99.9% anhydrous IPA to ensure zero grit or metal shavings.

   - Match the target camera module to the designated CNC cavity:

     * For iPhone 11–13 Pro/Pro Max cameras -> Select Step Pocket "11-13".

     * For iPhone 14–16 Pro/Pro Max 48MP & 5X Tetraprism cameras -> Select Step Pocket "14-16".

   - Turn the knurled lead screw knob counter-clockwise to open the sliding jaw.

   STEP 2: Clamping & Mechanical Isolation

   - Seat the camera module squarely into the step pocket. The bottom cable flex must exit freely through the relief clearance channel.

   - Slowly rotate the knurled knob clockwise until the clamping faces contact the outer perimeter of the camera's stainless-steel chassis.

   - Finger-tighten firmly. CRITICAL: Never over-torque with pliers. The precision lead screw provides high clamping pressure; excessive force will buckle thin side walls.

   STEP 3: Hot-Air Softening & Optical Barrel Extraction

   - Place the clamped BH35 fixture under the stereomicroscope.

   - Set the hot air rework station to 70°C – 75°C (Airflow: 15%).

   - Warm the top rim of the damaged optical sub-module for 15 seconds.

   - Use a fine non-magnetic scalpel blade to sever the black perimeter adhesive bead around the barrel lip.

   - Because the camera body is anchored in the BH35, the technician can apply balanced, vertical upward extraction force using titanium tweezers without the module slipping, rotating, or tearing its ribbon cables.

   STEP 4: Sensor Dry Cleaning & New Lens UV Curing

   - Clean the bare Sony CMOS sensor die using a silicone gel cleaning swab while the module remains secured in the fixture.

   - Insert the replacement Blue Lens barrel vertically into the VCM ring.

   - Because the BH35 maintains the camera body in a level plane relative to the microscope optics, the technician can verify 100% coplanarity (zero tilt) between the new lens top and the chassis rim.

   - Apply black UV optical adhesive around the perimeter and cure with a 365 nm UV lamp for 30 seconds.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3. STEP-BY-STEP WORKFLOW: FACE ID DOT PROJECTOR & VCSEL REALIGNMENT:

   STEP 1: Dot Projector Seating in "X-XR" or "11-13" Cradle

   - Seat the desoldered Face ID Dot Projector prism assembly into the designated slot.

   - The integrated recess locks the ceramic substrate while exposing the upper glass DOE crystal and perimeter epoxy perimeter.

   STEP 2: Hot-Plate / Preheating Separation

   - Warm the fixture on a heating plate at 80°C (or apply 200°C hot air with a micro-nozzle for 10 seconds).

   - Use an ultra-thin curved blade (0.05 mm) to separate the DOE prism from the underlying VCSEL die.

   - The BH35 holds the lower ceramic body rigid, preventing broken flex circuits or severed infrared photodiode wire bonds.

   STEP 3: Tag-on Flex Soldering & DOE Crystal Reseating

   - Solder the replacement LuBan, JCID, or QianLi tag-on Face ID flex directly to the exposed VCSEL solder pads.

   - Re-seat the DOE prism into the alignment register steps of the BH35.

   - Verify alignment under the microscope: the alignment crosshairs on the DOE must coincide with the center photodiode array.

   - Apply high-temperature UV optical adhesive (e.g., UV50) and cure under 365 nm UV light for 45 seconds to finalize alignment.
