LUBAN (LB) 2-IN-1 PURPLE SCREEN ENGINEERING CABLE TECHNICAL WORKFLOW GUIDE
================================================================================
1. SILICON BOOTROM EXPLOITATION & DCSD COMMUNICATION PRINCIPLES:
The LB 2-in-1 Purple Screen Engineering Cable acts as a physical hardware bridge to exploit the Apple A7–A11 BootROM vulnerability (Checkm8) and establish a hardware DCSD (Device Configuration Serial Diagnostic) UART link.
A. Checkm8 BootROM Exploit & Purple Screen (Diags) Loading:
- Deep in the unmaskable BootROM (SecureROM) of A7–A11 SoC chips lies a use-after-free vulnerability in the USB control transfer handling routine during Device Firmware Upgrade (DFU) mode.
- The host software (LuBan LBTool / H7) sends a sequence of crafted USB packets to overwrite the heap, allowing unsigned code execution.
- A custom ramdisk containing Apple's internal Factory Diagnostic Kernel (Diags OS) and device tree is injected into Mobile DDR / LPDDR RAM.
- Upon booting the diagnostic kernel, the display backlight illuminates purple, magenta, or green ("Purple Screen Mode"), signaling that the filesystem, kernel security policies, and memory sandbox are bypassed.
B. Dual-Interface Lightning / Type-C Pinout & Serial Protocol:
- Inside standard iOS Lightning and Type-C connectors, USB D+/D- differential lines are multiplexed with internal UART TX/RX lines via the Tristar / Hydra / Tigris CBUS controllers.
- The LB 2-in-1 cable incorporates an automated hardware switching circuit that toggles the data path:
1. Exploit Stage (USB D+/D- Mode): Transmits high-speed DFU payload packets to trigger BootROM execution.
2. Diagnostic Stage (DCSD Serial Mode): Converts USB packets into asynchronous serial UART (TTL 1.8V levels) to communicate directly with the Diags shell at 115200 baud, enabling raw read/write commands across the NVRAM SysCfg block on the NAND.

2. SYSTEM CONFIGURATION (SysCfg) DATA STRUCTURE & WI-FI UNBINDING MECHANICS:
- SysCfg Partition Architecture:
* In Apple BGA60, BGA70, and BGA110 NAND flash memories, the System Configuration (SysCfg) partition stores unique hardware calibration, device identity, and cryptographic coupling keys.
* Crucial Parameters:
- `SrNm`: Serial Number
- `Mod#`: Region / Regulatory Country Code (e.g., LL/A, CH/A, ZP/A)
- `WMac`: Wi-Fi Module MAC Address
- `BMac`: Bluetooth Module MAC Address
- `LCM#`: Display Panel Calibration Key
- `BCMS`: Battery Management System Serial
- The Wi-Fi Pairing Lockout Problem:
* Starting in iOS 11/12, Apple bound the Wi-Fi IC hardware MAC address cryptographically to the baseband and SoC. If a technician replaced a shorted Wi-Fi IC (e.g., BCM4359) with a new chip, the MAC address mismatch prevented iOS activation ("Unable to Activate").
* Traditional Solution: Desolder the NAND chip with 350°C hot air, reball it, place it in an expensive socket programmer (JC P7/P11/P13), edit the Wi-Fi address, reball again, and solder back to the board (high risk of board warping or ripping pads).
* LuBan Purple Screen Solution: The LB cable accesses the raw SysCfg block while the phone sits in Purple Screen mode, unbinds the stored MAC address, and auto-syncs the new Wi-Fi IC in 3 seconds without touching a single solder joint.

3. STEP-BY-STEP REWORK PROCEDURE: NO-REMOVAL SysCfg REPAIR & WI-FI UNBINDING:
STEP 1: Hardware Connection & Host Tool Initialization
- Connect the USB-A end of the LB 2-in-1 Engineering Cable to a host PC running LuBan LBTool (or directly into the USB host port of the LuBan H7 / L3 Programmer).
- Ensure target device has at least 3.8V battery charge or is powered via a DC regulated power supply.
STEP 2: Entering DFU Mode
- Connect the Lightning or Type-C connector to the target iPhone / iPad.
- Force the device into DFU Mode via hardware key combination:
* iPhone 6s / SE1 / iPads with Physical Home Button:
- Hold Power + Home buttons together for 10 seconds.
- Release Power, continue holding Home for 8 seconds until the screen remains completely black and the host PC detects "Apple Mobile Device (DFU Mode)".
* iPhone 7 / 7 Plus:
- Hold Power + Volume Down for 10 seconds.
- Release Power, hold Volume Down for 8 seconds.
* iPhone 8 / 8 Plus / iPhone X:
- Press Volume Up, press Volume Down, hold Power button until screen turns off.
- Immediately press and hold Power + Volume Down for 5 seconds.
- Release Power, continue holding Volume Down for 5 seconds.
STEP 3: One-Click Purple Screen Payload Injection
- In the LuBan software interface, click "Enter Purple Screen".
- The software executes the Checkm8 BootROM exploit across the LB cable:
1. Stage 1: Heap spray and buffer overflow execution.
2. Stage 2: Disabling watchdogs and patching signature checks.
3. Stage 3: Transferring iBSS, iBEC, and Diags ramdisk.
- The phone screen flashes white, turns magenta/purple, and remains static. Device Manager will enumerate a new virtual serial port: "Apple Mobile Device USB Serial (COMx)".
STEP 4: SysCfg Parameter Modification & Wi-Fi Unbind
- Click "Read SysCfg" in the LuBan software. The screen displays all parsed parameters (Serial Number, Color, Wi-Fi MAC, Bluetooth MAC).
- For Wi-Fi IC Replacement:
* Click "Unbind Wi-Fi" (一键解绑WIFI). The software rewrites the verification bit in the SysCfg partition.
- For Motherboard Swap / Data Migration / Screen True Tone Repair:
* Manually edit the Serial Number or paste the original factory code backup.
* Click "Write All" to commit changes to the NAND flash.
* Click "Backup SysCfg" to save a local cloud image of the modified NVRAM parameters.
STEP 5: Device Reboot & Activation
- In the LuBan interface, click "Exit Diags / Reboot Device".
- The phone reboots into normal iOS.
- Connect to Wi-Fi; the phone activates seamlessly without activation errors or non-genuine component blocks.
