Usage:
- Deployed as the dedicated secondary flash-charging controller in fast-charging smartphones (notably Oppo Reno 5 4G, Reno 6, Realme 8 Pro, and other Android motherboards).
- Works in parallel with the primary buck charger IC (which handles system power path and standard 5V charging): BQ25975 engages only when the high-wattage fast-charging handshake is established.
- Cuts cable current in half via 2:1 switched-cap conversion, preventing high thermal dissipation and heating on the USB Type-C connector and charging cable.
- Replaced during motherboard repairs to fix faults where standard slow charging works fine but fast charging / SuperVOOC fails to trigger, or when the chip is shorted to ground causing power leakage.
